Success In Life After-School Academic and Enrichment Programs

Cultural Expressions (Academics and Arts Enrichment Program)

A collaboration with Big Thought brings the arts of theater, dance, music and visual arts. The theatre project allows youth to build on their natural "creative choice making" instincts to further develop musical and theatrical choices. It also, promotes positive self image, confidence, and significantly increases their interest in learning and the Arts.

We All Read (W.A.R. on Illiteracy)

This program addresses the high percentage of African-Americans and Mexican-Americans in the West Dallas Community graduating from high school with severe reading deficiencies. Through one-on-one tutoring, after-school reading groups and guest readers, this program is designed for third (3rd) through fifth (5th) graders who are reading below grade level to help them improve their reading skills.

Imagine Me A Millionaire (IMM)

Our Financial Literacy Educational Program exposes youth to the benefits of earning and saving money as well as financial professionals and banking institutions. The Computer Literacy component is provided for youth and adults to improve their computer skills.

Drug Prevention and Truancy Intervention

Positive Directions is a Juvenile Diversion Program for youth ages 10-17 years old. This program provides consistent comprehension and holistic intervention from the Case Managers to youth who are involved or at risk of involvement with the juvenile justice system. Daily small groups are planned and organized through a variety of innovative, fun and creative activities. These activities allow youth to express and learn good decision-making and social skills while interacting with their peers. Back on Track-is our Community Service and Truancy Intervention program hosted in collaboration with the Dallas County Truancy Court. This program includes 6 –8 weeks interactive activities where youth can have access to healthy adult role models along with productive services and access to essential resources. Our program equips the program participant with tools on how to turn potential problems into opportunities. Parents are required to attend 2-3 sessions. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon successful completion of the program. All program attendees are court appointed.
